Seminar for Nose Work instructors with Tobias Gustavsson

In 2011, together with his colleagues, they published the book ”Tracking Dogs – Scents and Skills” The book has now been sold to dog handlers in more than 30 countries. Tobias is specialized in tracking and scent detection and have an extensive experience in developing skills in dog teams on all levels.

The seminar will cover the following topics:

• Rewards:
  Rewarding techniques and different reward signals for scent detection.
• The final response:
  Advantages and disadvantages with different types of alerts.
  Design of a progression plan for how to train a reliable final response.
• Training the dog to search:
  Intensity, high and deep hides etc. Different contexts and situations.
• Planning and documenting training:
  Data collection, protocols and analysis.
• Planning scent detection in different contexts:
  Designing and working with protocols.
• Scientific literature:
  The seminar will give an update on the latest research done in the field of scent detection specifically, and in dog training in general.

The seminar is primary for instructors with dogs.
Spectators spots are open to everybody.
We will have max. 8 instructors with dogs + spectators.
Its a request that the dog has a strong motivation towards play since the reward is one of the most important parts in Tobias’s dogtraining.
You will receive a signed certificate.

12/6 Friday 17:00 - ca. 21:30
The seminar will start friday afternoon with a theoretical presentation and demonstrations with Tobias's own dogs.

13/6 Saturday 9:00 - 17:00
There will be mixed theori and practical work. The practical part will be one to one.
Tobias will bring his own dogs for demonstrations.

14/6 Sunday 9:00 - 17:00
There will be mixed theori and practical work. The practical part will be one to one.

Friday evening we offer a buffet with sandwiches, coffee, tea and water for free.
Saturday and sunday it will be possible to order lunch in the morning. No preordering is nessesary. We will ofcourse pick up the food and deliver it at the venue.

• The event will be held in Viborg, in the middle of Jutland.
  InDog Elite Center is the biggest indoor hall for dogtraining in DK, it contains 2000 square meters groundfloor, devided into 3 sections, 2 agility rings and 1 obedience ring. 
• At the hall there is a cantine with refrigerator, micro oven etc. 
• The hall is placed close to the centrum of Viborg, close to restaurants, hotels, etc.
  
• We have amazing search areas close to the hall.
• Language will be english.
• Video filming and sharing on FB is allowed, except instructors guiding.
• Shortly before the camp you will receive an email with scedule and timetables
